Flying Our Kites

Today we went to the Museum to find out a little bit about Matariki.
We found out that Matariki is the name of seven stars or The Seven Sisters.
We might see them to the East just before the sun wakes up in June.

Gaynor read us a story about a Kuia and a Spider. We watched Rhonda weave flax into flowers, fish and stars. Just like the Kuia in the story. We had fun looking for the spiders around the room.
Then we had to find the stars in the exhibition like a scavenger hunt.
Then we got to do some weaving like Rhonda and we made paper kites. There was a lot of concentrating.

When we got back to school we went out to the playground to fly our kites. That was fun.
